INJURED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT?
Simply provide us with your ICBC claim number and we’ll take care of the rest. Our team will reach out to ICBC to get your active rehab program started.
How do I begin an active rehab program?
Please provide us with your claim details outlined in our referrals page and we will seek approval from ICBC for you to begin an Active Rehab Program. Once approved, we will contact you to arrange an appointment at one of our gym partners. You are pre-approved for 12 sessions of Active Rehab within the first 12 weeks of your accident.
Am I covered for active rehab?
If you’ve been in a crash and need medical care, ICBC Accident Benefits help you access the services you need to recover, no matter who is responsible (at fault) in the crash. Individuals are pre-approved for 12 sessions of active rehab within the first 12 weeks of their accident. If you require treatment beyond 12 weeks after an accident, we would have to request to extend your treatment directly from your claim representative. Visit our Forms page and provide us with the necessary information and we will contact your claim representative on your behalf.
Should I continue my other treatments while doing active rehab?
This will depend on the recommendations by your physician and how beneficial your other treatments are for you. An Active Rehab Program works well in conjunction with other treatments such as physiotherapy, massage therapy, and chiropractic treatments. If necessary, our team will communicate with other practitioners to ensure your recovery remains focused and effective.
What happens during a typical active rehab session?
The session will vary depending on the injuries you sustained and your functional capacity. During your first session, your Kinesiologist will perform a functional assessment and discuss with you a treatment plan customized to your needs. Next, your Kinesiologist will instruct and teach you various exercises and stretches that pertain to your specific injuries and dysfunctions. You would be provided with an online exercise program based on all the exercises performed during the session. This will allow you to practice your prescribed exercises independently either at home or at the gym.
How long is each session? How long is the program? How often should I attend?
Each session is 45 minutes in length of one-on-one instructional time with your Kinesiologist. Depending on your injuries, functional limitations, and your ability to work, program length usually range from 12-24 sessions. After your initial assessment and consultation, your Kinesiologist will create a personalized treatment plan and schedule that optimizes your recovery based on your condition and availability.
Do I have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses?
No, we bill ICBC directly for all treatments. This means your Active Rehab Program is 100% covered and you can focus on your recovery without the financial burden.
Where will my active rehab program take place?
We have multiple gym partner locations throughout the Lower Mainland. Please visit our Locations page for more information. Our Kinesiologists will meet you at our gym partner locations to conduct the Active Rehab Program.
How do I become prepared for my first appointment?
Prior to your first appointment, we will send you a standard online intake form to fill out. If you are unable to fill it out for whatever reason, no worries! Your Kinesiologist will spend some time going over it with you during your first appointment.
Please bring along closed toes shoes (e.g. running shoes, sneakers) and clothes that are comfortable to move around in. If you'd like, you can bring a towel and a water bottle for your convenience.
