Active Rehab For ICBC Claims
What are Active Rehab Treatments for ICBC?
Active rehabilitation (active rehab) is a specialized exercise-based program designed to help individuals recover from injuries, enhance physical function, and improve overall well-being. Our Active Rehab programs are tailored to meet the needs of those recovering from motor vehicle accidents (MVA), workplace injuries, sports injuries, and other physical traumas.
We tailor every Active Rehab program to the person in front of us — your injury, your goals, and your pace of recovery, whether you’re recovering from a car accident, workplace injury, or sports injury. As part of the ICBC Recovery Network, we bill ICBC directly, so you can focus on getting better instead of paperwork.
Is Active Rehab Right for You?
If you’re dealing with stiffness, weakness, or reduced mobility after a car accident, and you’re ready to actively work toward getting back to normal, Active Rehab is built for you. Our kinesiologists design a program around your specific injury and goals, not a generic template. You don’t need a referral to start: submit your claim and we’ll confirm your ICBC coverage.
ICBC Recovery Network
ICBC Recovery Network providers meet ICBC’s clinical and billing requirements, so treatment is pre-approved and billed directly through ICBC before your session even happens.
As part of the network, we handle the billing directly with ICBC so you can focus on recovery. Our team includes acupuncturists, chiropractors, counsellors, and massage therapists, so if your recovery needs more than one type of care, it’s coordinated under one roof.

Should I continue my other treatments while doing Active Rehab?
The frequency of sessions will depend on your physician's recommendations and how effective your other treatments are. Active Rehab works well alongside physiotherapy, massage therapy, and chiropractic care. If needed, our team will collaborate with your other healthcare providers to ensure a coordinated and effective recovery plan.
How long is each session? How long is the program? How often should I attend?
Each session lasts 45 minutes and involves one-on-one time with your Kinesiologist. The total length of the program generally ranges from 12 to 24 sessions, which can vary based on your specific injuries, functional limitations, and progress. After your initial assessment, your Kinesiologist will develop a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals. They will also recommend a schedule that ensures optimal recovery while accommodating your availability and lifestyle. Regular adjustments to the plan may be made based on your ongoing progress and any additional insights gained during sessions.
Do I have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses?
If approved, we handle all billing directly with ICBC for your treatments. This ensures that your Active Rehab Program is fully covered, allowing you to concentrate on your recovery without any financial concerns.
Where will my Active Rehab program take place?
We offer flexibility with several gym locations throughout the Lower Mainland where our Kinesiologists can see you for your Active Rehab Program. In addition to these gym facilities, we provide options for aquatic therapy at designated pools and can arrange home visits to suit your needs. For added convenience, we also offer online telehealth sessions to ensure you receive care regardless of your location. For more information on our locations and services, please visit our Locations page.
How do I become prepared for my first appointment?
Here’s how you can come prepared for your first appointment:
- Complete the Intake Form: Prior to your appointment, we’ll send you an online intake form. Completing this form in advance will help us understand your needs and history better. If you're unable to fill it out beforehand, don’t worry—your Kinesiologist will spend some time going over it with you during your first visit.
- Wear Comfortable Clothing: Dress in comfortable, flexible clothing that allows for easy movement, and bring closed-toe shoes such as running shoes or sneakers. This will help ensure you’re ready for any exercises or activities that may be part of your session.
- Bring Optional Items: For your convenience, you might want to bring a towel and a water bottle. A towel can be useful if you prefer to have one on hand, and staying hydrated is always a good idea.
- Prepare to Discuss Your Goals: Think about your goals for therapy and any specific concerns or questions you have. This will help your Kinesiologist tailor the session to your needs and set a clear path for your recovery or performance enhancement.
